ICPH CEO, Business Psychology and Sport Psychology Partner
Andrea Wieland M.B.A., Ph.D., 1996 Olympian
Specializing in Business and Sport Psychology Performance Plans and Mental Health Counseling. With a comprehensive understanding of the competitive spirit, Wieland knows what it takes to be an inspiring leader and contributing team member. A 1996 Olympic field hockey team member, and 2008 inductee into The University of Iowa's Athletic Hall of Fame, Dr. Wieland is devoted to developing leaders and teams in sport, business and life. An expert in the psychology of excellence, leadership and teamwork, and passionate about helping others reach a performance-health balance, she has worked extensively with Division I college athletes and coaches for over 15 years, as well as business leaders in Fortune 100 companies, teaching them systems to win. Wieland has coached at top Division I programs, including assisting University of Maryland to a National Championship. For 12 years, she successfully owned and operated Winning Systems, Inc., a consulting and coaching firm focused on leadership and teaming development. Andrea serves on the Metro Denver Health & Wellness Commission and volunteers for the Metro Denver Sports Commission. She is certified in Emergenetics, a thinking and behavioral self-assessment tool. She holds an M.B.A. focused on leadership and organizations, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology focused on optimal performance, multiculturalism and diversity climates. Medical Partner
Marge Goodyear P.A.-C
For the past 12 years, Goodyear has worked in the medical field as a certified Physician Assistant in several specialty fields, including gerontology, family medicine, rheumatology and emergency medicine. She worked in a Level One Trauma Center at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as a Physician Assistant and has seen an extensive range of chronically ill patients, as well as delivered acute critical care. An athlete her whole life, Goodyear has competed in soccer and tennis, won road races from 5K's to Marathons, as well as competing in and winning sprint and international distance triathlons. In 1996, she completed the Canadian Ironman triathlon in Penticton, British Columbia. She thrives at teaching others how to get their best performance out of themselves while enjoying the process of athletic competition. Goodyear has a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado and an M.S. degree in Physician Assistant studies from The University of Iowa. More Details (Downloadable PDF file) |
Medical Partner
Tod Sweeney M.D., FAAFP, ABFM, CAQSM
Dr. Tod Sweeney is a native of Colorado and grew up in Lakewood. An athlete himself, he played intercollegiate baseball at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from medical school at the University of Vermont, he completed a Family Medicine residency at Maine Medical Center. Continuing his passion for sports medicine, he completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado, and is Board Certified in both Sports and Family Medicine. Currently, Dr. Sweeney cares for all types of athletes and patients. He maintains his active involvement as a team physician with local area high schools and colleges. When not seeing patients he continues to pursue his academic interests of writing and teaching. He has published several articles in the sports medicine field and has presented at national conferences. He helps educate medical students and residents as a clinical instructor with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He currently is the Department Chairman at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center and serves as a Regional Chapter Board Representative for the Rocky Mountain American College of Sports Medicine. He is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. He is also a fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice. William C. Horst Ph.D.
Horst is a business psychologist with over twenty years of consulting experience. He develops partnerships with senior executives to increase both leadership and organizational effectiveness, and his consultations range from executive coaching and assessment to team development and organizational studies. His assessments of talent and cultures during mergers/acquisitions lead to rapid integration that impacts the bottom line for corporations. Horst's consultations with new executives through on-boarding/integration improve their abilities to quickly solve problems and create a team environment. His expertise is sought globally by organizations from start-ups, venture capital, nonprofits, family businesses and the nuclear power industry to large private and Fortune 500 companies.
Horst received a B.A. and an M.S. from Creighton University; his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology was received from Michigan State University. He is a board member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, and holds memberships in the American Psychological Association, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Society for Human Resource Planning. Nutrition Partner
Suzanne Martin Ph.D., R.D.
Dr. Suzanne Martin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to nutritional services at ICPH. Having practiced as a Registered Dietitian for over 30 years, Dr. Martin has seen diet fads come and go. Suzanne advocates sensible nutrition and energy balance, making sure that nutritional programs are going to fit the lifestyles and needs of the individual. Her areas of expertise include: weight management, sports nutrition, women's health, and nutrition assessment/disease management. Martin taught nutrition as a full professor at the college level and presently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses online, and served as Faculty Chairman as well as Chair of Division of Human &Social Sciences at the College of the Ozarks. Finally, Martin's Nutrition Services include consulting with several large organizations including ASU Faculty and Staff Wellness Programs. Suzanne earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth, and M.S. from The University of Iowa and a Ph.D. from Texas Women's University. Exercise Physiology Partner
Kathy Zawadzki M.S.
Kathy Zawadzki has more than two decades of experience in the health and fitness profession working as an exercise physiologist, sports nutritionist, certified personal trainer and cycling and multi-sport coach. A competitive athlete herself, Kathy knows the value of applying physiological data to optimizing training and conditioning. According to Zawadzki, "Physiological training is critically important to the efficiency and effectiveness of any training program. It can never be a One Size Fits All approach, which tends to lead to undertraining or overtraining."
Zawadzki has earned a master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Texas at Austin and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Health and Fitness Instructor. She is a licensed USA Cycling elite level coach and licensed Sports Nutritionist. Her diverse background includes 2 years as a member of the sports science team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she helped develop Olympic-caliber athletes.
Zawadzki is a frequent contributor of health and fitness articles published on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) Training Center and Her Sports magazine. Working with Carmichael Training Systems, she was a contributing author for the book Food for Fitness: Eat Right to Train Right (Putman, 2004). As a coach and Sports Nutritionist, her clientele include all levels of competitors, including weekend warriors and highly competitive cyclists and multi-sport athletes. |
